Why not use recommendation engines (like Amazon's)?
These are ingenious and highly adaptive, but they have limitations. -- If I've bought a frying pan, they can recommend a pot--or even olive oil. -- What if I'm looking for an accountant? -- Their pattern recognition depends on accumulating sales data. -- Nothing gets recommended until it's been bought a significant number of times. -- The technique is much better suited to established items than to unfamiliar ones. -- The Internet's most natural rich-content niche (for now) is lesser-known material.
